"What Are We Learning About Today, Bob?"

Genius Is Subjective

Currently, I am a MENSA member. I could have qualified to join with test scores I took in 3rd grade, but I challenged myself and tested to get in. I am glad I did it that way. It confirmed a lot of things for me and gave me a certain confidence I needed at the time. The main thing I gained from the testing experience was a satisfaction in meeting the challenge of a goal I was very unsure of being successful at.

People often find this weird or fascinating when I reveal this fact about myself. Sometimes conversations can quickly become... let's say, awkward. Today, I found this article on FB that sheds a pretty accurate light on why I wanted to test and to be in MENSA. The answer the interviewees gave resonated with me, with why I tested and joined, and what we get out of it. The bar analogy is pretty accurate. Read on... if you dare!
